Pumpkins in Half Moon Bay

I unabashedly love Halloween. Not only is fall one of the best times of the year for the Bay Area (warm weather, wonderful golden light), I love the spooky evenings, the costumes, and I always take a trip to Arata’s Pumpkin Farm in Half Moon Bay to pick up some decorative gourds. Arata’s is a wonderfully weird place to visit. This year their theme seems to be ‘Egypt’ and no, I’ve got no idea what that has to do with Halloween. There’s a petting zoo, pony rides, and a terrific hay maze you should plan on getting lost in.

Fall is also a really great time to start thinking about updating your family portraits. It’s still nice enough outside to photograph outdoors, and you can use the images for a holiday card. Drop a line if you’ve been thinking about a family photo session, there’s still plenty time before the winter colds sets in.

This year one of my cousins was visiting San Francisco for the first time with a few of her friends, so I dragged them down the peninsula to enjoy the day with me.
