San Francisco City Hall Wedding Photographer

Winter weddings are terrific, especially at SF City Hall, one of the most beautiful public buildings for a ceremony. Jordan and Channing, along with their respective parents, enjoyed a sunny afternoon in December for their nuptials. The holiday tree in the Rotunda was especially beautiful this year, covered in lights, origami cranes, and sparkling stars. I absolutely love Jordan’s draped wedding dress, it fit her beautifully and was custom made by Larimeloom on Etsy.

Destination Wedding, Nicole and Tim at Taliesin West

A very handsome couple, joyful friends, and an exceptional desert location. Nicole and Tim threw an intimate and stylish destination wedding at the famous Frank Lloyd Wright property, Taliesin West.

Seattle Wedding, Jo and Branden

I felt so blessed that my cousin Branden and his fiancee Jo trusted me to document their beautiful urban Seattle wedding. Working with your own family could easily be stressful, but I can honestly say that Jo is one of the most relaxed and centered people I’ve ever met – her hair dresser overslept, so we wandered up to a nearby salon for a last moment booking with a stylist who did a terrific job. Jo and Brandon also have a terrific community of co-workers and longtime friends in Seattle, it was wonderful to meet everyone and reconnect with a few people I hadn’t seen since childhood! Enough about that, though, on with the photos…

Website Update

You may notice a new look to this site, I finally was able to update around here with the help of the immensely talented Kristen Adam of RococonouveauDesign. Let me know what you think, hopefully it’s now easier to find my wedding portfolio, featured posts, and connect via Facebook, Twitter, and read my reviews on Yelp.

Now that this is complete, I have a ton of new images to share from this year’s weddings. Here’s a sneak peek at one, Kara and Scott’s lovely Pt. Reyes outdoor ceremony.

Monterey Wedding – Lisa and Sam’s Hollywood Glamour

Lisa and Sam are two do-it-yourself, creative people who met and fell in love at a Renaissance fair, and their decorations and ceremony reflect their spirit of creativity. Lisa hand-made many of the details while their family and friends spent the day before the ceremony transforming the interior of the Paper Wing Theater in Monterey into a romantic and dramatic dining room, complete with hanging chandeliers and lit by candelabra. Both Sam and Lisa have children from previous relationships, they incorporated their kids into the ceremony and it’s abundantly clear that this is one happy family.

San Francisco Commitment, a Handfasting in Stern Grove

I’m an enormous fan of the Offbeat Bride blog, and was so thrilled to see one of my shots from this small but very beautiful commitment ceremony show up in this week’s Monday Montage. So, if you’ve found me via Offbeat Bride, welcome! I love to shoot commitments of all kinds, especially alternative ceremonies. This was my first handfasting ceremony, while researching the meaning and origin of the practice, I found this – “Handfasting was originally practiced by the Greeks and Romans. The Romans created a garland made of magnolia, elder and roses. It was then wrapped around the couple’s wrists to signify love and fidelity. In ancient legends, lovers were united together as they “tied the knot” in the tradition of Celtic handfasting.” Such a cool ritual.

Lilith and Michael planned a small ceremony with some of their closest friends witnessing and participating. We met on a perfect bay area day near Stern Grove, surrounded by redwood and eucalyptus trees, while a family of hawks hunted overhead. Michael told me later that he timed the event to coincide with golden hour – which as you can see worked out very, very well.

Wedding Photography, Nicole and Tim

I’ve been insanely, incredibly busy lately. Which is great, right? I do owe y’all a full post of this wedding, but here’s a couple of portraits of the happy couple in the meantime. How radiant does Nicole look? I love her dress, and the red sash was the perfect match to her flowers. We had a blast shooting portraits all around the striking property of Taliesin West in Arizona as the sun slowly set across the desert.

San Francisco Bride Portraits – Sutro Park

Spring has sprung big time in the bay area! We’ve been having torrential rain followed by days filled with enormous clouds flying across the blue sky. This is my favorite time of year, watching living things emerge from their winter sleep and I’ve been celebrating by spending as much time out in the garden as I can grab and shooting some new bridal portraits for my portfolio.

Many more below the cut, including this model’s adorable puppy, who loves to have her own photo taken. I love it when people bring their dogs on shoot.
