Every year my Uncle David’s wisteria becomes more lush and amazing, I think this year is the best bloom yet.

San Francisco Bridal Portraits, Jenny
My friend Catherine Tullner is entirely to blame for this magic, she found and restored this vintage dress for her friend who, coincidentally, was looking for the perfect wedding frock. Not only is she an incredible seamstress, she did Jenny’s hair and makeup!
Catherine says, ‘The dress is a 1930’s bias cut silk crepe vintage number. I rescued it from an estate sale in Berkeley (where I had gone to buy bird cages for a lighting project!) simply because it looked so sad and forlorn surrounded by the original bride’s lifelong possessions. They sold it to me for $25 (including a matching jacket that I am also restoring for her) because it was stained and torn. After a little mending, a few soakings and some scrubbing it was in near-mint condition. Jenny was over at my house trying on some of my vintage dresses to help her decide what direction to go with her wedding dress and when she put this dress on it looked like it was custom made for her (only 80 years ago?)…not a single alteration was needed (except to remove a silly little floof on the neck that I am using to make hair flowers for her.) She said it made her feel glamorous but not to bride-y. Jenny hates shopping and I love restoring vintage and finding good homes for treasured dresses so it was a match made in heaven.’
I’ve had several clients lately mention their goal of finding the perfect dress for a reasonable budget, and here’s proof that it is possible! I also like to think about the woman who owned this dress before, and how wonderful it is that it’ll be worn, and cherished, again.
Baby love

Oakland Engagement Session, Margaret and Edward
These two were great fun to work with, and I’m already looking forward to their wedding. I offer engagement portrait sessions, just like this one, with all my commitment ceremony packages. Furry family members are always welcome!
My favorite time of year, booking engagement sessions with upcoming wedding clients and getting to know one another better. Maggie and Ned asked if they could bring their dog along, and if we could do their session near their Alameda art studio. I actually really love it when people include their pets in their photo shoots.

Kara and Scott, Point Reyes Station Wedding Photography
This was one of those days when absolutely everything came together, from the team of family friends putting together flowers, mothers and fathers busy taking care of errands, an absolutely perfect summer day, and in the middle of it all, a calm and centered young couple enjoying wedding day. Working with Kara and Scott was so easy and fun, they were good sports about everything, even willing to tramp through the mud to shoot photos in a field of flowers. These guys and their friends know how to party – they kicked off their wedding weekend with a beach BBQ and ended their reception with a terrific band and lots of dancing.
Other vendors included: Catering by Pam Ferrari, cocktail hour service by The Whim Agency, entertainment by Larry Lynch and the Mob, their wedding and cocktail hour hosted at The Point Reyes Seashore Lodge, with the reception site at Toby’s Feed Barn
Many, many more below the cut!

San Francisco City Hall Wedding Photographer
Winter weddings are terrific, especially at SF City Hall, one of the most beautiful public buildings for a ceremony. Jordan and Channing, along with their respective parents, enjoyed a sunny afternoon in December for their nuptials. The holiday tree in the Rotunda was especially beautiful this year, covered in lights, origami cranes, and sparkling stars. I absolutely love Jordan’s draped wedding dress, it fit her beautifully and was custom made by Larimeloom on Etsy.

Welcome, 2013
This was an amazing year. I’m so grateful for my clients and everyone I’ve worked with in 2012. My goals for this year are to shoot more, write more here (I’m not the most eloquent of bloggers!), and to continue to expand my technical skills in photography. There’s no real end to growing as an artist or professional, I feel so lucky to be on this journey.
