I’m looking forward to photographing Lola and Rizzo’s wedding in Oct, their tea party theme engagement session was a lot of fun.
Cupcakes are from Sweet Dee Cupcakes in San Leandro and they were delicious!

I finally toured the old 16th Street Train Station in Oakland, and we didn’t even have to hop any fences. This gorgeous old building is now being cared for and one can rent it out for events, including weddings!
More below the cut, the back of the building is covered in some terrific graffiti….
Happy Halloween! One of my favorite holidays. Costumes, candy, little kids having fun, and all the witches come out during golden hour.
The gorgeous and talented Laika Fox jumped in front of the camera for a session in Mountain View Cemetery.
Milkweed scatters its seeds across my neighborhood; true to the survivor nature of this weed, the plant sprouts in unlikely places.
Cracks in the driveway, on the hell-strip, in overgrown untended areas, as well as in my neighbors orderly garden.
The plant attracts several kinds of aphids and accompanying ladybugs drawn to the feast. And of course, the Monarch butterfly chooses to lay eggs on it as well.
We were fortunate to watch this butterfly emerge last month, a reminder that we all have seasons to grow, seasons to hide inside a cocoon, and seasons to fly.
This amazing stylish and colorful wedding was photographed at Oakland’s Piedmont Park and at the venue, Humanist hall.
Last year wrapped up in a whirlwind of work and an enormous personal change for me – after over 15 years of living in San Francisco, my partner and I were evicted from our home of five years when the new owner jacked up our rent to over six grand a month. Like so many working artists, I had to make a choice to move across the bay to Oakland; a city with a thriving art and restaurant scene, tons of wonderful diversity, and let’s be honest? Much better weather for gardening. I’ve fallen behind on blogging last years weddings, but they’re on the way, along with some wonderful new things on the horizon. As always, thank you to my wonderful clients and friends for their support.
I’ve been photographing more frequently in Oakland these days, and have to admit, the weather’s pretty nice over on that side of the bay!
A few more below the cut from Lauren and Dahled’s maternity session. I’m looking forward to meeting their beautiful new family member once they arrive!

We had beautiful light all day for this fun couples session in the Oakland hills (you may recognize Amy and Jason from their super creative Livermore wedding), we started with a wander with their adorable dogs and then caught the sunset light down at Jack London square. Amy’s heading off for a month of basic training and wanted to schedule a family photo shoot so she’d have some prints to bring along and keep her motivated.
A few more below the cut
