Oakland Engagement Session, Margaret and Edward

These two were great fun to work with, and I’m already looking forward to their wedding. I offer engagement portrait sessions, just like this one, with all my commitment ceremony packages. Furry family members are always welcome!

My favorite time of year, booking engagement sessions with upcoming wedding clients and getting to know one another better. Maggie and Ned asked if they could bring their dog along, and if we could do their session near their Alameda art studio. I actually really love it when people include their pets in their photo shoots.

Seattle Wedding, Jo and Branden

I felt so blessed that my cousin Branden and his fiancee Jo trusted me to document their beautiful urban Seattle wedding. Working with your own family could easily be stressful, but I can honestly say that Jo is one of the most relaxed and centered people I’ve ever met – her hair dresser overslept, so we wandered up to a nearby salon for a last moment booking with a stylist who did a terrific job. Jo and Brandon also have a terrific community of co-workers and longtime friends in Seattle, it was wonderful to meet everyone and reconnect with a few people I hadn’t seen since childhood! Enough about that, though, on with the photos…

San Francisco Bride Portraits – Sutro Park

Spring has sprung big time in the bay area! We’ve been having torrential rain followed by days filled with enormous clouds flying across the blue sky. This is my favorite time of year, watching living things emerge from their winter sleep and I’ve been celebrating by spending as much time out in the garden as I can grab and shooting some new bridal portraits for my portfolio.

Many more below the cut, including this model’s adorable puppy, who loves to have her own photo taken. I love it when people bring their dogs on shoot.

Kelly And Greg – San Francisco City Hall Wedding

Radiant, and rainy. Two adjectives which describe my first wedding of 2012! It’s always an enormous honor when a friend asks you to shoot their wedding, in this case I was very touched when Kelly and Greg decided to book me for this day at city hall. We began with the appointment for their license, and in no time at all were standing in the Rotunda, surrounded by their closest friends and the officiant (who was absolutely lovely!). After, we headed up to the 3rd floor to take advantage of the incredible light up there for some portraits of the couple and their attendants.

I love Kelly’s 1930’s inspired dress and hat so much that I couldn’t resist processing a number of their images in velvety black and white – some of these shots remind me of my grandmother’s wedding album images, which were a big inspiration to me growing up.

Point Reyes Wedding Photographer, Liz and Nathaniel

The photos from this day really speak for themselves. A beautiful couple deeply in love, perfect weather, a ceremony surrounded by flowers and a crowd of friends and family all thrilled to participate in this event.

The wedding site was the Old Point Reyes Schoolhouse, the flowers were by a friend of the family – who did an incredible job. The delicious cake was also home-made by a friend, complete with a gluten-free top tier. The reception was held at the Pt. Reyes Station Cafe.

San Francisco Wedding Photography, Jennifer and Ovais at the Fairmont

San Francisco’s had an unusually rainy June, the entire week before Jennifer and Ovais’s wedding it was either pouring or sprinkling – threatening their plans to use the outdoor roof garden of the Fairmont Hotel for their ceremony as well as putting a damper on our goal to shoot outdoor portraits. Luckily on the day of the wedding the clouds parted and we were given a respite from the wet weather. Jennifer and Ovais told me their wedding would be small, but my second shooter and I were kept busy all day long photographing their friends and family, with no shortage of lovely moments to document.

Jody and Anthony’s Heavy Metal Super Hero Wedding

Jody and Anthony's Mendocino Wedding

This wedding was, in a word, epic. Jody and Anthony are both artists, music lovers, incredible dancers, and pretty much the nicest cool kids you’ll ever meet. They threw a weekend-long wedding party in the woods outside of Mendocino that began with a super-hero theme welcome dinner and ended with a heavy-metal Mother’s Day brunch on Sunday. And somewhere in the middle they got married.

The wedding location was deep in the woods outside of Mendocino, California. We arrived at the site and were given a cabin assignment, our official temporary tattoos, and a schedule of the weekend events.

Rachel and Joe’s Annapolis Wedding

What an epic day! I’ve known Joseph for over fourteen years – we met just before I moved to San Francisco, he’s since moved to Prague, and then to Amsterdam with his lovely wife, Rachel. This was actually their third wedding – they had a catholic ceremony in the UK, and a smaller ceremony in Amsterdam. That’s one way to get a lot of use out of a wedding dress! I’m honored they chose me as their photographer for the stateside ceremony, and I’m so happy for both of them.
